Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700 saves time and money!

In the tranquil countryside of County Kildare, a new Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700 is hard at work proving its versatility and value.

It is there that Dungrove Developments Ltd is re-developing a 270 acre farm site, including sandpit, into a golf course. The Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700 functions as the complete mobile plant for the site and is the only equipment needed to process sand and gravel material from the sandpit before being directly transported for sale.  The Dungrove Developments Ltd Quarry Manager commented on the performance and savings of the Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700,

“The Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700 produces very clean stone and unusual for its size it’s very good with very fine sand, which we’re processing at this site.  The fact that we’re able to process the material with just one screen and not have to re-screen it means we’re saving time and money.  No-one else has a 4-way split screen of this size, never mind the cleanliness of the stones.  It’s a real gem for us!”

In this application, the Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700 3Deck has a top deck of 40mm, a middle deck of 22mm and a bottom deck Speedharp of 4mm.  The Powerscreen® Speedharp has improved tension and life expectancy compared to other screen media. The sand and gravel is fed directly into the Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700.  The mobile screen separates the material to produce 4 end-products: 40mm+, 22-40mm, 4-22mm and 0-4mm at 420tph.  The 0-4mm sand makes up the majority of the products at 70%, and is sold as concrete sand.  The 40mm+ gravel is sent to an impact crusher where it is sized to asphalt gravel and will actually be recycled within the same site once it is redeveloped. The other products are sold directly as mortar sand and plaster sand.

Powerscreen Chieftain 1700 at Kildare

The new Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700 is a mid-sized, track mobile unit, available with 2 or 3 decks to complement the Chieftain 1400 & new Chieftain 2100Xproducts and adding to the already hugely popular Powerscreen® Chieftain range.

Key features of the Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700 are:
- NEW 2-bearing screenboxes, 2 deck & 3 deck
- NEW fold out screen walkways
- NEW powerunit featuring a transverse engine arrangement to aid access & serviceability
- NEW patent pending, fully mounted hydraulic folding oversize auxiliary conveyor for oversize material stockpiling (3 deck model), (no crane required during setup)
- Extended conveyors resulting in increased stockpiling capacity
- Output Potential: up to 500 tph (551 US tph) (Depends on application)

The Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700 can also be purchased as a Rinser model, meaning it can also function as part of a sand and aggregate washing plant.

Meanwhile the new Chieftain 2100X is an upgraded version of the Chieftain 2100, available as a 2 & 3 Deck and has longer conveyors & an increased screen area of 14% on the bottom deck pushing the screening capability much higher than that of the Chieftain 2100.
